Farewell my beloved BALTICA...

Hey everybody out there!

Incredible but sadly true - now it has come so far: Today is my last day at the ARS BALTICA office!
Yesterday my volunteer colleague Sven from the Landesverband der Musikschulen Schleswig-Holstein and me arranged a little farewell dinner with a supporting cultural programme. So I let some pictures speak in the first place.

As “Sherlock” Helge announced I will disclose the secret about Mr X today.
The mysterious visitor was and is Christoph Starck, my successor! From next Monday on he will take over my job and this blog. I wish you all the best Christoph!

It was a really great year in Rendsburg at the Nordkolleg and I’d like to thank all my awesome colleagues and especially my boss Andrea C. Bayer, head of ARS BALTICA Secretariat!
I really enjoyed creating this blog and I hope you had at least a little bit of fun with all the texts and photos.

Maybe you will hear about me again in this blog. Who know's?
I remain with best regards and hope you will remain ARS BALTICA and this blog faithful!

One more time; this was a great, interesting and instructive year in my life and maybe you have become interested in the social volunteer service in the field of culture. Spending a year this way is totally worth it! So, why don't think about this option...

Second Chance

Like yesterday's first impression, we're still sitting in front of the PC.
“Information” seems to be one of the most important terms in this office and always has to be researched excellently – fits to my job as a detective.

And if you ever thought about true office stories, consequent hierarchies, master and servants (not meaning the song by Depeche Mode), you're definitively on the wrong way.

As you see I'm responsible for the blog in these days!
(I reckon they do believe I'm the right one for this job, but actually don't know what I'm selling over here...)

Wow! I've got some news: We're not alone anymore!
In fact it wasn't so yesterday, but I forgot to write about it.
Another guest is at the office, too.

I'm sitting on the opposite observing what Johannes tells him about his work – very interesting talk, very mysterious situation.
Taking a pull on my cigarette I watch out the window and ask myself why this person sits in the same room.
Suddenly there are crazy noises in the office. Johannes starts to whisper something into the unknown's ear and I can't understand a word, mysterious situation again.
Is it a secret information about ARS BALTICA or am I just dreaming?

Maybe you won't find out tomorrow and maybe you won’t the days after, but next week you'll know what I'm talking about.

At that moment I'll probably be anywhere else in world to crack the next case.
Thank you for your attention.

Over and out,
Helge “Sherlock” Holmes

A Visitor's Entry

Hello everybody out there!

Today is a special day for Johannes (hopefully you know he is the main blogger). On the one hand because it's the last week of his voluntary year at “ARS BALTICA” as he already said, on the other he's hosting me for two days. I want to get an idea of what people actually do when the work for “ARS BALTICA”.

I am Helge Albrecht and I did a Voluntary Year of Social Service in the field of culture as well at the “KulturNetz-Schleswig e.V.”. Like Johannes reported his visit at the “OK Westküste” I am doing right now the same thing here at this blog.

Let me tell you how it could come so far (sounds negative – meant positive):

Johannes and I got to know last year in September at an access week of our gap year, where all volunteers of the region got together. It was love in the first place!
Immediately we shared the same room to produce kind of creative rubbish. Yes, we're getting inspired by each other every time we see, so lucky!

We spent much time together e.g. for writing texts for our Poetry Slam Team “Hack und Gewalt”. After one year of joy we're taking the train to future and walk other ways, separate ways, our own.
And though we know for one year I've never been at his office to proof if he's working how he should.

And here's my task:
WHAT the hell is going on here?

I'll find out.

See you,
Detective Helge

Last week at the ARS BALTICA Secretariat

Unfortunately I have to announce that my time at the ARS BALTICA office will end soon.
This is my last week. Nevertheless there is still a lot of things to do. I look forward to these 5 last days and try to enjoy my work at the office!

A good start to the week everyone!

Live broadcast

I enjoy my time at the OK Westküste very much. I am learning a lot about radio broadcasting and tomorrow Robert and I will do a live broadcast with quality music and classy entertainment! Turn on the livestream from 15 to 16 o'clock.

Free training days at the OK Westküste

I am very glad about the fact that I will start my free training days tomorrow, August 14th. For three days I will visit the OK (Offener Kanal) Westküste. The open channel westcoast is a free citizens' radio in land Schleswig-Holstein.

I will become more familiar with radio broadcasting and the organization behind such an institution. Together with my gap year colleague Robert Wortmann we will try to create an own radio show.

I am sure that we will have a great time together. Maybe I will be able to post a link to the livestream of our common radio show within the next days.

So stay tuned, it's worth it!

Slam Show World Premiere

That was the title of the final event of my gap year in Rendsburg. Yes, it is sad but true; on August 31st my year at the ARS BALTICA Secretariat will end unfortunately.

But my plan to conclude my work with a very special and unique event worked very well. On August 10th circa 50 people gathered in the Nordkolleg Rendsburg to visit my world premiere. I planned the event together with Björn Högsdal from assembleArt Kiel. the subject of the evening was a culmination of Poetry Slam and audio play.

We booked Frank Langmack, Danish Slamchampion as special guest for the evening and furthermore Thorsten Wolff and Katharina Brutscher from Kiel, Helge Albrecht from Schleswig, Björn Högsdal himself and me myself as Poetry Slam artists for the evening.

The sounds were produced by Benjamin Holzapfel and Claudius Carstens (better known as "Herr Bösel") in advance. Main instrument was the contra bass. It was played live as well as the ukulele and a synthesizer.

So the Slam artists performed their texts live on stage while the audio engenieers played their produced and live sounds. Something like that is unique in both of the two scenes. Because of that it really was a world premiere. But becase of that it was an experiment, too.

Luckily the experiment worked really well. The audience was unanimously enthusiastic. The press gave us very nice review, too.

Here you can find the press project prequel of the SHZ (Schleswig Holsteinischer Zeitungsverlag).

Here you will find the press review of the SHZ.

The Kieler Nachrichten and the NDR 1 Welle Nord also reported about the project, unfortunately these reports aren't available online in the moment.

I really liked organizing the project although there are still some problems but this belongs to project working. I am just stunned and happy about the positive resonances I got from friends, colleagues and visitors of the show.

Because of the successfull premiere Björn and me like to continue the project.
Thus it is possible that you will here about Poetry Slam - Audio play events made by Högsdal/ Eihusen in the future.

Enjoy the photographic impressions of the evenings below!
