Commonplace in cyberspace

Hello and welcome to the ARS BALTICA Volunteer Blog!

My name is Johannes Eihusen and since the 1st September 2011 I am doing my year of voluntary cultural work at the ARS BALTICA Secretariat in Rendsburg/ Northern Germany.

In this blog I'd like to inform you about my work in the office, oddities and everyday occurences from my everyday working world. From time to time I will tell you some stories, show some pictures, hence I try to convey an impression of how the Voluntary Year of Social Service in the field of culture is in general and specifically in the ARS BALTICA Secretariat.

You may noticed that I used in my first blog text three different names for this "gap year". This was one of the first problems that occured when I started my job in the last autumn. "Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr Kultur" is the correct and official term in Germany for what I am doing in the moment. Because of reasons of time I will name the subject of my writing simply "gap year" like in the title of the blog. The interested reader will get what I mean, hopefully.

But enough of orthographic niceties. Since English is not my native language I ask you to have some indulgence with my textes. sometimes they will maybe sound very German or maybe just wrong. But I pledge to do my very best!
